For those who missed the chowder contest at this year’s Maritime Festival, Whiskey Wind Tavern in Greenport has just the event during Taste North Fork.
The Front Street bar has long established itself as a local hangout with a relaxed atmosphere. It has recently introduced a dining menu that features crave-worthy burgers, chicken wings, flatbread pizzas, sandwiches, soups and more, courtesy of manager and bartender-turned-cook Joe Kuhlman.
To help get the word out about the new menu, Mr. Kuhlman is offering a chowder sampling during the two-day Taste North Fork festival.
The chowder is homemade with fresh clams from Southold Fish Market and local vegetables.
It’s easy enough to get to with the free shuttle bus trolleying participants from town to town. There is a stop in Greenport on First Street, right around the corner from Whiskey Wind.
