Bringing a taste of the South to the North Fork, BBQ Bill’s in Greenport is all about the comfort food.

The restaurant serves up all the BBQ favorites: smoked wings, popcorn shrimp, baby back ribs and Texas chili, but its signature pulled pork sandwich is the pride and joy.

The meat is carefully trimmed and hand rubbed with a special blend of spices, then slowly cooked at low temperature over hardwood logs for a real smoky taste.

Don’t be alarmed if your meat is on the pink side – that’s a characteristic of the smoking process.

What makes this sandwich particularly unique is the homemade sauce, a secret family recipe that is sweet with a slight kick.

Patrons like it so much that BBQ Bill’s now bottles and sells it to take home.

If pork is not your thing, the sandwiches are also available with smoked sliced brisket, chopped brisket, pulled chicken, smoked turkey breast and spicy sausage links.

Feel free to top it with onion straws, cheese or even coleslaw to complete the dish.

Bill’s is located at 47 Front St, Greenport.
