The Barn Gallery at Jedediah Hawkins Inn in Jamesport will host an opening reception for “A Change of Weather,” a show of new plein air paintings by Max Moran, tonight Saturday, Aug. 17, from 5 to 8 p.m. The exhibit runs through Sept. 8.

The work explores East End and Manhattan landscapes on cloudy, windy and sunny days.

In a release, the artist said, “That moment of that day is what I’m after. A cloud formation passing overhead … the wind in the trees … it’s like music that always plays but is never the same.” The paintings harmonize unexpectedly, the release says, creating “a dialogue about what it means to be in two places.” Mr. Moran, of Baiting Hollow, is also profiled in “9 in Art,” an annual segment of top Long Island artists, in the July/August issue of Long Island Pulse magazine.

“A Change of Weather” will remain on exhibit Fridays from 5 to 8 p.m. and weekends from 1 to 7 p.m. through Sept. 8.
