Be sure to break out your boards on Saturday, August 10 for the 5th annual Greenport Skate Park Festival.
The skate park on Moores Land in Greenport has had struggles with upkeep, and the festival is returning this year as a fundraiser to help with renovations. All the proceeds will benefit the Greenport Skate Park Renovation Project.
The festival will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and is free to attend. It will cost $10 for to skateboard and all ages are welcome, as there will be amateur and advance levels. The age groups are: 12 and under, 13 through 17, and 18 and over.
The day begins from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. with registration and a raffle. There will be giveaways going on throughout the day, and from 12 to 6 p.m. there will be band performances.
From 12 to 3 p.m. there will be a mini ramp and half pipe event.
At 3 p.m. there will be a street course for skaters to maneuver through until 5 p.m.
In the evening, at 5 p.m., there will be an awards presentation and another raffle.
The rain date for the festival is August 11.
