dunegrass at bridge street gazebo shelter island concert

A free summer concert on the waterfront will take place on Shelter Island on Thursday, August 29 at 7 p.m. The gazebo at Volunteer Park on Bridge Street in Shelter Island Heights will feature the popular local bluegrass band, DuneGrass.

Lisa Shaw plays guitar, piano and sings lead and harmony; Tom Hashagen plays mandolin and guitar and also sings lead and harmony; Sandra Chapin plays bass. For this concert, DuneGrass will be joined by guest fiddle player, Sara Gordon, from Sylvester Manor.

Their music includes “bluegrass, jazz, country and even some oldies with a bluegrass twist.” DuneGrass is also well-known for their appearances at the Maritime Festival in Greenport.

Inclement weather will cancel the program.

Volunteer Park is within walking distance from the North Ferry, located on picturesque Bridge Street, overlooking Dering Harbor and the Shelter Island Yacht Club. The Dory restaurant and bar are right across the street if you get hungry before or after the concert.

So come and enjoy bluegrass music under the stars.
