Locals who have a passion for preserving and promoting the rich history of the North Fork may be interested in a local fundraising effort.  The Southold Historical Society is scheduled to host their 10th annual summer gala on Saturday July 13.

The society was founded in 1960 in order to commemorate the region and preserve the history of the town. The Society maintains historically significant buildings, some of which showcase the Society’s vast collections. The Society also has a headquarters on Route 25 and maintains an archive.

Southold Historical Society’s mission is to “promote interest in and education about the history of Southold and to bring together those persons who desire to discover, acquire, preserve, maintain, and exhibit historic sites, buildings, and relics.”

The fundraiser will feature wine from Castello di Borghese Vineyard, followed by a full meal and desserts. After dinner there will be music and a silent auction where residents can bid on art, jewelry, and other fine objects.

The gala will take place at Brecknock Hall starting at 5 p.m. Tickets can be purchased for $75 and can be acquired through the Society office. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the gala. You can reach the Southold Historical Society by calling (631) 765-5500.
