A bowling alley might be the last place you’d go for artisan flat bread pizza, but then again The All Star in Riverhead is not your average bowling alley.

Far from the 70’s style bowling alleys we grew up on, the All Star features 28 lanes of bowling, as well as billiards, dozens of flat screen TVs and an arcade room. The facility also boasts a modern multi-level dining room and two bars. Almost as hard to overlook as its gigantic video wall is the exposed wood burning brick oven where head chef Bayro Braga serves up seven varieties of flat bread pizzas daily.

The flatbreads are made using hand-thrown dough and fresh ingredients that are fire-cooked hot and fast to create pizza with crispy crust and perfectly melted cheese that would rival any pizzeria.

Among the most tempting flatbreads on the menu is the All Star’s BBQ Chicken pizza – made with grilled chicken, cheddar cheese, red onions and cilantro. What makes this pizza unique is the chef’s very own barbeque sauce that provides just the right amount of kick with a balance of sweetness.

“We are all about fun,” Mr.Braga said. “We love to experiment.”

The All Star also offers a classic, Thai chicken, meat-lovers flatbreads along with a pizza of the day inspired by the freshest ingredients from local farms and seafood catches.

Thursday night is pizza night at the All Star with deals on a 14” pie for $9.99.

The All Star is located at 96 Main Rd. in Riverhead.
