Do you like burgers? How about chicken and ribs? Does shrimp sound okay?

If you answered “yes” to any of the above, you’re going to love eating at Joe’s Garage and Grill when it opens later this summer in downtown Riverhead.

When he was creating the car-themed restaurant’s menu, executive chef Eddie G. said, he focused on offering American-style food in the spirit of steakhouses, pubs and sports clubs. Nothing on the menu is over $20, he said.

Appetizers include “Garage Nachos,” which feature house-made potato chips, chili, pico de gallo, guacamole, sour cream and melted cheese. Barbecue, Buffalo and Teriyaki-style wings are also on the menu. Customers can also order beef, pork or pulled chicken sliders.

There are a number of burgers on the menu, all of which are made with eight ounces of Black Angus beef, Mr. G. said. A turkey burger is also available.

The menu features an “Up in Smoke” section that includes a pulled chicken sandwich, open-faced brisket sandwich and Philly Style Steak sandwich, all smoked. Entrees include ribs, brisket, steak, fried chicken, Teriyaki shrimp and Cajun catfish filet. Customers can also choose between a variety of different salads.

In addition to cooking at Joe’s Garage and Grill, Mr. G. will be filming segments for the Food Network at the Atlantic City Food and Wine Festival July 26 and 27 in Atlantic City, N.J.

“I’m going to be cooking chicken at the festival,” he said. “I’m really looking forward to it.”

Mr. G. has worked in the restaurant business for the past 34 years and has been a part of the Food Network’s Celebrity Chef Tour in past years. He previously owned Eddie G’s Steakhouse in Mount Sinai, now closed.
