Summer on the North Fork means long beach days, ice cream pit stops and the reappearance of farm stands and farmers’ markets with all the fresh goodies you know and love. One in particular, the farmers’ market in Greenport is the hub for locally grown produce and manufactured goods, making it a picturesque location for only the best ingredients.

The Greenport farmers’ market is open every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. now through October 12. Located at the Greenport United Methodist Church at 624 Main Street, the outdoor market boasts local produce, eggs, chickens, honey, bakery items, specialty foods, wine, art and more.

Vendors for the 2013 season include Blossom Meadow Honey, specializing in honey, candles, and beeswax crayons from North Fork hives, Blue Duck Bakery, and Talk Treats to Me, with naturally-made dog treats, just to name a few.

There is also a free Farmers’ Market Kid’s Club every week to help teach North Fork children how to make healthy choices and encourage them to be involved in their local food system.

Be sure to visit the website for more information about vendors and a detailed summer schedule.
