Two Bedell Cellars wines were enjoyed at a Gracie Mansion party hosted by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg Wednesday evening celebrating the U.S. Supreme Court’s landmark decision to extend federal benefits to married gay couples.
A spokesperson for the Cutchogue winery said bottles of First Crush White, a 2012 blend of Chardonnay and Riesling, and First Crush Red, a 2011 blend of Merlot, Syrah, and Cabernet Franc, were served at the event.
“It’s an honor and we’re happy to donate to a good cause,” the spokesperson said. “Bedell has a history of serving wine at Gracie Mansion. Our owner, Michael Lynne, has donated wines to the annual Gracie Mansion Conservancy Benefit for several years.”
