Bob Gammon has recently renewed the hard cider tastings in the Woodside Orchards barn on Main Road in Aquebogue.

The latest batch was made from apples that were harvested last fall, fermented this past February and recently pressed into cider.

He offers four kinds of hard cider: traditional, traditional sweet, apple raspberry and cinnamon apple.

To get a tasting the customer buys a pint glass and samples 4 ounces of each style.

They can also buy a growler of their favorite style for $16 (a refill of the growler costs $13).

The orchard has 30 varieties of apples and also makes pies.

Brian Link of Sayville stopped in Friday afternoon with his wife Suzanne and daughter Angela after visiting a couple of wineries. He said his favorite was the traditional sweet.

Interesting fact: it takes 36 apples to make one gallon of cider.

Woodside Orchards is located at 729 Main Rd, Aquebogue.

Cider tastings are available Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Starting Friday, June 28, they will stay open until 7 p.m.
