The weather this weekend is perfect for spending time on the water, so if you’re in the market for a new boat or want to check out the latest models of luxury yachts, Greenport’s annual boat show is just the ticket.

The three-day event is a boat lovers’ paradise. This year’s show will feature more than 50 luxury vessels from local businesses like Strong’s Marine, Goldsmith’s Boat Shop, Albertson Marine, along with many others.

Boats will line Mitchell Park Marina on both the land and the sea. As always, all are open for free tours.

“We’re excited about it,” said Peter Clarke, director of the Village’s Business Improvement District.

Greenport is synonymous with maritime culture, so it may not come as a surprise the Village’s annual boat show has become a popular attraction in recent years.

New to this year’s boat show is Greenport’s latest attraction– retired New York City fireboat, Fire Fighter.

The red fireboat served for more than seven decades protecting New York Harbor. Fire Fighter has the hard-earned distinction of being the most award-decorated fireboat in the world.  A National Historic Landmark, the Fire Fighter is now a floating museum that is opened for tours in Mitchell Park Marina.

Vendors representing insurance companies and other boating related must haves will be on hand.  The Coast Guard Auxiliary will be providing free safety inspections. And the kids can also enjoy petting tanks provided by Riverhead’s Atlantis Aquarium.

The third annual boat show will take place on May 31, June 1 and June 2 in Mitchell Park, located off of Front Street in downtown Greenport. The event is free and open to the public.
