Get a rare look at four of the North Fork’s loveliest private gardens — including  the garden of Denis Schrader and Bill Smith, a northforker favorite — during the Garden Conservancy’s Open Days tour on Saturday, July 8.

The Garden Conservancy, which works to preserve beautiful gardens for public enjoyment, is hosting an “open day” on Long Island when gardens in Cutchogue, Mattituck and Jamesport will open their doors to visitors. (more…)

The Garden Conservancy Open Days

Several years ago, Arnold and Karen Blair purchased a wooded lot adjacent to their Cutchogue home looking to ensure the peace and privacy on their waterfront property.

Today, it’s home to a sloping, meandering trail enhanced by lush perennials planted under towering oak trees.

“Once we had it, we said, ‘well, what are we going to do with it,'” Mr. Blair recalled. “Now it’s like a little park.” (more…)
