Brooklyn has discovered the North Fork.
OK, so that isn’t news to the second homeowners, locals and business owners who have known it for years, but this trend in the real estate market recently caught the attention of the New York Times.
In a story that ran on the cover of the newspaper’s real estate section on Sunday, May 8, entitled “Brooklyn’s Favorite Fork,” the Times noted an increase in attention Brooklynites are paying to the region.
From Oscar frontrunners to gritty indies, the list looks stellar.
The festival will open on Thursday, Oct. 8 and will close with Steven Spielberg’s “Bridge of Spies” on Monday, Oct. 12, at Guild Hall. The thriller stars Tom Hanks as an American lawyer charged with negotiating the release of a captured American during the Cold War. (more…)

A Long Island wine played an important role during a diplomatic meeting between world leaders earlier this month.
President Barack Obama became the third president to sip Wölffer Estate Vineyard’s wine at the White House when the vineyard’s 2012 Perle Chardonnay was served during a private meeting between the president and German Chancellor Angela Merkel. (more…)

This winter, Sag Harbor’s Bay Street Theatre will welcome one of the East End’s favorite rockers joined by some of the most influential artists with “Fireside Sessions with Nancy Atlas and special guest” every Friday in January and February. The sessions kick off this Friday, Jan. 3, with Atlas and special guest Chad Smith from the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Dickey Betts’ sideman Andy Aledort (Jan. 10) and storied funk and R&B keyboardist Danny Keane (Jan. 17), are also slotted to join Atlas this month. (more…)
