Orient Holiday House Tour

Step inside the holiday-themed and decorated homes of East Marion and Orient residents to celebrate the season and help a good cause.

Oysterponds Historical Society hosts its annual Holiday House Tour this Saturday, December 10 from noon to 4 p.m. The self-guided tour features new and old homes dressed in seasonal finery. (more…)

The old maxim “a picture is worth a thousand words” comes to mind when describing what happens at the annual Poetry at Poquatuck benefit in Orient.

Eleven local visual artists are paired with writers — most from the North Fork, some published and some not — to create poetry inspired by the artists’ paintings and images.

“Some poetry, just like some paintings, you just feel something by looking at it,” said organizer and participating poet Yvonne Lieblein, who began pairing writers and artists together for the event three years ago. (more…)

The North Fork isn’t a special place only in the midst of a balmy summer.
