The Lobster Roll Northside in Baiting Hollow and the adjacent North Fork Tasting Room have changed hands.

Michael McCann has taken over the two businesses and will rename the 100-seat restaurant Sound Bistro, according to Lobster Roll founder and property owner Fred Terry Sr. (more…)

When it comes to food, everybody knows the North Fork for its organically grown produce, natural baked goods and fresh-caught seafood.

But other North Fork culinary traditions create a heritage that links to the past through recipes and dishes adapted from the Old World.

One of those is potato candy, which was a holiday favorite in Fred Terry’s childhood home. Terry, who owns The Lobster Roll Northside in Baiting Hollow and the Lobster Roll in Amagansett, was born and raised on the North Fork and is descended from one of its oldest families. (more…)

At age 71, the announced sale of a restaurant might signal retirement for many, but slowing down is not on Fred Terry’s agenda.

After 16 years owning the Lobster Roll Northside in Baiting Hollow, and more than 50 years in the restaurant business, Terry is simply shifting his focus a bit.

“Frankly the whole full service restaurant idea was becoming a bit cumbersome, unless you have a big extended family,” Terry said. “Now I have a big extended family, but they all have different careers.” (more…)

There’s going to be a chili cookoff at Martha Clara this Friday Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. Presented by the North Fork Environmental Council, 2013 Chili Night will be the place to sample the best chili the North Fork has to offer. (more…)

There’s a new place in town for North Fork food and wine lovers.

The North Fork Tasting Room, located in the same shopping center as Lobster Roll Northside and the Gingerbread Factory in Baiting Hollow, opened its doors Saturday afternoon. Owner Fred Terry said the store is a “labor of love” that will introduce new local wines to tourists and residents alike. (more…)
