PeraBell Food Bar East co-owner John Peragine has said he thinks downtown Riverhead is on the brink of “something awesome.” And since its June 2015 opening, the restaurant has become an integral part of the area’s mission to re-establish itself as a destination.
I often find myself defending Long Island wine prices — perhaps a bit less now than five or 10 years ago, but it still happens. It’s tiresome and something I wish I didn’t have to do, but the perception that “all Long Island wine is overpriced” lingers in the minds of many. (more…)

Cabernet franc should taste like cabernet franc. It may seem obvious, but taste enough of it from up and down the East Coast, and it quickly becomes obvious that not all that many winemakers are willing to let cab franc speak for itself. (more…)
