Suhru Wines, the label founded several years ago by Susan (the Su) and veteran winemaker Russell (the Ru) Hearn (the H in the middle) has added a sparkling wine to its lineup — and it’s a nice one.

Though labeled non-vintage, the website says that the 85 percent chardonnay and 15 percent pinot noir was harvested in 2015 and that the wine was bottled in 2016.

Local wine fans have been drinking Hearn sparkling wine for several years (he’s the winemaker at Lieb Cellars and runs Premium Wine Group, the local customer crush facility) and that experience shows with this wine.

The nose is reminiscent of fresh-cut pears and green apples and shows a subtle yeastiness at the edges.

Fresh and fruit forward, the palate is similarly dominated by apple and pear flavors, but there’s a little peach too — and a squirt of lime juice on the finish, which is medium-long and shows a little spicy lees too.

It’s dry — but not too dry — and is sure to appeal to a wide range of drinkers.

It’s available at the brand’s Cutchogue tasting room for $30.
