The 2018 East End Maritime Festival returns to Greenport this weekend with an opening day parade, fair vendors, live music, kayak races and more.

The three-day event kicks off with the Land & Sea Gala on Friday night. The festival runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Saturday, Sept. 22 and Sunday, Sept. 23.

See some of the event highlights below. In addition to these scheduled events, there will also be a classic boat exhibit as well as other displays and demonstrations happening throughout the weekend.

Friday, Sept. 21

The 29th annual East End Maritime Festival gets started Friday night with the Land and Sea Gala at Greenport Yacht & Shipbuilding Co. Local restaurants will be serving up tastes accompanied by imbibes from local wineries and beverage producers. Guests can also expect dancing and a live auction. The party gets started at 6:30 p.m. Tickets information.


Saturday, Sept. 22

10 a.m.: The festival gets underway.

11 a.m.: The Merry Merfolk will make their way down Main and Front streets beginning at 11 a.m. during the opening Maritime Festival Parade. Participants are encouraged to dress up as their favorite sea creature. A Merry Merfolk Contest Judging will take place at Mitchell Park at noon. In the evening, the Lin Beach House will be hosting a costume cocktail party for adults. Tickets available at the Lin or by emailing [email protected].

11 a.m.: A Japanese Fish Printing Workshop for children will take place at the Seaport Museum. There will also be a Japanese Fish Printing Workshop for adults at 2 p.m. Learn more about the printing.

3 p.m.: Kayak races on the Mitchell Park Waterfront.

6 p.m.: Roads reopen to vehicle traffic

• Mystic Whaler Harbor Cruises depart from the Railroad Dock at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. Ticket information.

• Bug Light Cruise & Tours depart at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Check-in is at the Seaport Museum. Ticket information.


Sunday, Sept. 23

10 a.m.: The festival opens for the final day.

2 p.m.: Snapper Contest for children ages 9 to 16 at Railroad Dock behind the Seaport Museum.

4:30 p.m.: Festival closing and Eastern Long Island Hospital Dream Greenat Mitchell Park.

6 p.m.: Roads reopen to vehicle traffic.
