With its close proximity to several popular Long Island Sound beaches, The North Fork Shack is an ideal location for takeout on a beach day.

Opened in 2016 by friends Ryan Flatley and Samy Sabil, who met while working at North Fork Table & Inn, the menu features fresh, local ingredients with lots of Mediterranean influence.

We recently asked Sabil, a native of Morocco, what menu items he would recommend for someone looking to grab and go to the beach.

He came up with five light items that will definitely have you getting the picnic basket ready.

Eggplant hummus with plantain chips

“The eggplant hummus is a fresh light dip that is an easy dish to share with friends. The hummus will last in a cooler until you are ready to eat.”

Pulled chicken Greek bowl

“The Greek bowl is loaded with fresh vegetables and pulled chicken that is great both warm and cold. The yogurt dressing makes this a light dish for a hot summer day.”

Quinoa salad

“Quinoa with olives, avocado and tomato make this a healthy choice that will still fill you up.”

Fish Sandwich

“A blackened mahi sandwich screams beach day. Old Bay tartar sauce with lemon makes this a light sandwich perfect for a day on the boat or beach.”

Tacos

“We offer pulled chicken, blackened mahi, marinated steak, buffalo eggplant or one of our great specials.”
