Those with an eye for repurposed antiques and vintage building materials might be familiar with Lumber and Salt. John Mazur opened the Sound Avenue location in Jamesport three years ago, offering an extensive array of one-of-a-kind furnishings, design services, fine art, antiques and bespoke material objects. Mazur also creates custom pieces for clients at the space.

Customers can see a sampling of the brand at Lumber and Salt’s new pop-up location on Love Lane. Mazur and creative partner Brooke Cantone took over the 1,400-square-foot space at the northwest corner of the street in May, transforming the former Capital One bank building into a playground for design enthusiasts who eschew anything cookie cutter.

“This is a good opportunity to have a central location,” Mazur said. “We can introduce people to a taste of what we do.”

The inside of the summer studio is chock full of unique finds. The objects range from high-end fine art to reclaimed doors to Industrial furniture. Mazur and Cantone are also on-hand at the shop to help customers navigate the selection and provide design insight for the pieces.

The Manhattan and North Fork-based Mazur — a designer by trade — has been in the industry for more than 20 years. He and Cantone carefully curate each piece they the sell in the name of high-concept design and brand fluidity. They source their goods through auctions and trade shows across the world as well as through the local salvaging of wood and even antique farming equipment.

“We look at it through an artisan’s eye,” Cantone said. “The brand is very consistent. It’s the character of the pieces that make them sought after. People like that our [pieces] are different… they have an emotional connection.”

The Lumber and Salt summer pop up is located at 245 Love Lane in Mattituck. The store is open Friday through Sunday, and by appointment. Call 215-704-6588 or 917-687-0063. Mazur said the pop up would run until at least September with some possibility of remaining open into the fall. Information about both locations is updated daily on their Instagram:@lumberandsalt
