There’s a whole new way to satisfy your sweet tooth on the North Fork.

Hampton Chocolate Factory is rolling out a new artisan chocolate and ice cream truck just in time for the warmer weather. The decadent menu boasts ice cream sandwiches dipped in pure dark or milk chocolate, frozen s’mores and the company’s signature chocolates by the piece. (Think: sea salt caramels)

Hampton Chocolate Factory has quickly been making its mark on the East End foodie scene. The company was started as an online retailer. Owners Caroline and Evan Gappelberg then opened the flagship store in Westhampton Beach in 2016 and expanded the operation to a second location in Greenport last summer. Now they’re hoping to branch out again.

“Our goal is to give people the ultimate chocolate experience,” Caroline said. “We want to really expand the business. We have two stores, which gives us a presence on the North and South forks, and [the truck] expands our reach to Manhattan, Montauk and beyond.”

The couple purchased the Rambler-style truck in October and have since been customizing everything from the inside and out. A custom glass display case for the chocolates (reminiscent to the ones in the shops) was added as well as the proper freezer and refrigeration systems to ensure the quality of the provisions.

“At the end of the day it is all about providing luxury artisan chocolate and ice cream,” Evan said. “We are bringing the store on the road. Instead of having to trek to Greenport or Westhampton were coming to you and you’re not giving up anything.”

The truck is now available for private parties and will be making appearances at local vineyards. Try it first hand at Lenz in Peconic on Saturday, June 9 at 1 p.m. It will make a stop at Lieb in Cutchogue on Saturday, June 23 at 7 p.m. More public events are also in the works.
