The Riverhead Business Improvement District has set all its dates for some of the most popular events on the North Fork.

From the annual Fourth of July fireworks show to the Halloween-inspired Coffin Race, here are the can’t-miss happenings returning to downtown Riverhead in 2018.

Alive on 25

The block party of vendors, food trucks and live music is returning to the streets of downtown Riverhead this summer. This year’s Alive on 25 will be held on Thursdays in July and August: July 5, July 12, July 26 and Aug. 9 with a rain date of Aug. 23.

Fourth of July Fireworks

The fireworks show is being held on Thursday, July 5 in downtown Riverhead. Since Fourth of July is a Wednesday, the Riverhead Business Improvement District Management Association is combining the annual Fourth of July fireworks show with the first Alive on 25.

Cardboard Boat Race

The Riverhead Cardboard Boat Race on the Peconic Riverfront is setting sail again on Saturday, August 11. The free event attracts hundreds to the dock to cheer on the duct-taped vessels.

Halloween Coffin Race

In the spirit of the Cardboard Boat Race, Riverhead Business Improvement District members introduced the Coffin Race to the town’s annual Halloween celebration last year. The custom crafted “coffins” ride again on Saturday, Oct. 27.

Holiday Parade & Bonfire

The 67th annual Riverhead Lions Club Parade and the 19th annual Holiday Bonfire is back on Saturday, Dec. 8. The holiday celebration features free hot chocolate and photos with Santa.
