The calendar isn’t the only indicator that sunny spring days are on the way.

North Fork businesses are reopening for the season, getting us in the mindset of fresh beginnings. Here are a handful of signs that spring has begun on the NoFo with the planned opening of some of your favorite places.

Briermere Farms is open in Riverhead. The North Fork’s premiere pie maker reopened in March, selling their famous baked goods, jams, jellies and syrups. Call ahead to place your Easter pie orders.

Hallock’s Cider Mill will open on April 12. This destination for homemade pies, cookies, jams, chowder, honey, cheese, gift baskets and local produce is returning mid-April.

Modern Snack Bar will open April 17. The Aquebogue restaurant famous for roast Long Island duck, lobster salad and lemon merengue pie is back for its 68th season.

Case’s Place is open in New Suffolk. Waterfront dinning is back for the season. Case’s place has returned with a seafood-forward menu of fish and chips, fried scallops and clams on the half shell. They’ll be closed on Easter Sunday, April 1.

Schmitt’s Family Farm in Riverhead has opened, selling their famous horseradish, along with items such as pickled beets, salad dressing, pickles, jams, fresh made pies and pansies. The farm stand is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Rites of Spring Music Festival is back for its third year. The classical and contemporary music series pairs music with local food, wine and artists talks. The festival will run from April 28 through June 16.

Harbes Family Farm is returning on Mother’s Day weekend. Serving apple cider donuts, fresh produce and more, Harbes is kicking off its 2018 season with a Mother’s Day Festival weekend on Saturday, May 12 and Sunday, May 13 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Barnyard Adventure will be open for the kids and mom can enjoy a glass of the vineyard’s award-winning wine.

Lewin Farms is returning on Memorial Day weekend. The farm stand offers a full line of fresh fruits and vegetables with pick your own options available throughout the season. The stand is opened from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
