American Beech has added six new luxury suites to its inn and restaurant in Greenport’s Stirling Square.

The new style-forward accommodations include three suites and three larger apartment-sized spaces with extra bedrooms and living spaces. The new rooms took owner Brent Pelton and partner Alex Vinash outside the main building, which houses the five original suites and the the New American restaurant of the same name.

The rooms are located in three separate buildings within the Stirling Square complex, which was purchased in its entirety in 2014. Following in the design footsteps of the original suites, the updated interior still pays homage to Stirling Square’s history. The structures were carefully remodeled to preserve original architectural elements, such as the exposed beams and brick.

“I like to combine very modern looks with very old looks,” said Vinash, who designed the new accommodations. “They are interesting spaces. They are not just white rooms, they have a lot of history, spirit, design and comfortable extras for guests.”

The interior exudes a modern costal vibe with reclaimed wood, splashes of tropical color and luxury amenities. Guests can expect a flat screen TV, mini bar and private bathrooms. The new suites also have heated bathroom floors.

“It is unexpected in Greenport,” said Vinash. “It’s not over the top, but it’s very special. You feel like you’re on vacation here. You feel happy.”

To make the vision come to life, American Beech teamed up with VSOP Projects to showcase original artwork in the rooms. The Front Street gallery is a multi-use contemporary art space that focuses on year-round community-driven art initiatives. The majority of the pieces hanging on the walls are made by local artists.

“Having the art is a huge asset,” said Vinash. “It brings a lot to the space.”

The belief that the North Fork is not just a peak-season destination is important to the business. The inn initially opened in the fall of 2015 offering special deals during the off-season to promote Greenport as a mid-winter getaway destination.

“We have a shared aesthetic and a shared vision for the future of our village,” said VSOP owner and artist Jonathan Weiskopf. “This partnership felt important to me because it gets more eyes on local, regional and international artists I believe in. Each piece in the rooms is as carefully curated as the gallery.”

The pieces range from smaller, affordable framed prints to large-scale oil paintings and furnishings. All of the VSOP artwork in the suites is available for purchase.
