If you’ve been counting down the days to indulge in chili and beer on Super Bowl Sunday, Greenport Harbor Brewing Co. has an event for you to get your fix before the big game.
The brewery is hosting its first North Fork Chili Cook-Off at its Peconic location on Sunday, Jan. 28 at 1 p.m. and the event features some of the best restaurants on the North Fork.
The line-up of chili contestants includes 1943 Pizza Bar, Ammirati’s, Grace & Grit, Little Creek Oysters, American Beech, Crazy Beans, Love Lane Kitchen and The North Fork Shack.
“We wanted to do something fun to break up winter on the North Fork,” said owner John Liegey.
There’s one rule: Each chili must use a Greenport Harbor brew as an ingredient. The restaurants we’re given a choice of the Black Duck Porter, Devil’s Plaything, Antifreeze or Harbor Ale, Liegey noted.
The competition is determined by a panel of industry experts.
The event is $10 and entitles participants to a taste of each chili and a complimentary beer.
