Dates have been set for the third annual Alive on 25, which welcomes a block party of live music, food and vendors to Main Street in downtown Riverhead.

This year, Alive on 25 will be on four Thursdays in July and August: July 5, July 12, July 26 and Aug. 9 with a rain date of Aug. 23 should any of the events be rained out.

This schedule could mean that two of Riverhead’s most popular summer events will be merged into one. Since Fourth of July is a Wednesday, the Riverhead Business Improvement District Management Association is recommending combining the annual Fourth of July fireworks show with the first Alive on 25 slated for July 5.

Alive on 25 was inspired by Patchogue’s Alive after Five series. Riverhead’s events take place on Thursdays opposite Patchogue. To sidestep a Fourth of July scheduling conflict, this year’s Alive After Five will start in June, take a three-week hiatus for the village’s July 4th celebrations and pick back up on Thursday, July 19 and continue to run opposite Alive on 25 until mid-August.

The Alive on 25 schedule is still pending Riverhead Town Board approval.
