Now you can have a piece of the North Fork delivered to your doorstep, wherever you are in the world.
The North Fork Box, a new subscription service offering North Fork-produced goods, recently began taking pre-orders through its website, thenorthforkbox.com. The service, which will ship four times per year, expects to send out its first box in December in time for the holidays. The inaugural package will feature products from Lavender By The Bay in East Marion, dog treats from The Harbor Pet in Greenport, a copy of N is For North Fork by local photographer Katelyn Knapp and more.
The service is aimed at people who have a connection to the North Fork — whether they own a second home, once lived here or have only visited— but live elsewhere, said business co-founder Maria Vizzi.
“People want to keep the North Fork in their experience way after they’ve left it,” Vizzi said.
Vizzi, a part-time East Marion resident and the owner of Indoor Environmental Solution, a ventilation company, said she hopes The North Fork Box will also help artisans, farmers and shopkeepers get their products in front of a new audience.
“American Express promotes small businesses one Saturday a year, but we thought, ‘How do we support our local businesses all year,’” she said.
Each shipment will contain about five items and a “bonus item,” with a total value of more than $100, said Vizzi, who owns the business with her longtime friend Carolina Paulino.
The box will also contain what Vizzi called “value added” items that are experiential or do not fit in the box. For example, a tasting at a North Fork venue.
