Located off Long Island Sound in Mattituck and jutting up to the North Road is Mattituck Inlet.

The Army Corps of Engineers installed the original jetties on each side of the waterway where it meets Long Island Sound in 1906, and later extended them farther out into the Sound. The Corps dredged the inlet in 2014 and nearly 100,000 cubic yards of sand was replenished on the creek’s east side.

You’ll often see people launching commercial and recreational boats and personal watercrafts from the inlet.
