Tom Colicchio is one of the most well known New York chefs, so it’s no surprise that when Vogue reached out to kitchen celebrities for their favorite food memories they turned to the part-time North Fork resident.

What might surprise you, in a very good way, is that he worked in a shout out to a great local seafood haunt in his anecdote.

Colicchio recalled clamming with his grandfather growing up in New Jersey for his portion of the piece, but he worked in a mention of Southold Fish Market when he spoke of where he gets his clams today.

‘These days, I buy my clams at the Southold Fish Market near my home on the North Fork of Long Island. Pry it open, add a spritz of lemon and a small dollop of sauce—slurp it back—and there. I’m right back in the boat with my grandfather, asking for another. And another, please.’

It’s a great quote and a sentiment so many of us can relate to. Cheers, chef!
