A sure sign that summer is winding down? Pumpkins begin to appear at Krupski Farms in Peconic.

The Krupskis sure love their pumpkins, but Mary Krupski told us last year that it’s her husband, Suffolk County Legislator Al Krupski Jr., who keeps his eye out for that first pop of orange in the field.

“He gets what I call ‘over-enthusiastic’ about pumpkins,” Mary said. “Al’s goal is to set them up for Labor Day.”

And the farm will stay in the Krupski family for a fifth generation as it was recently handed down to Mary and Al’s son, Nick Krupski.
