Five North Fork restaurants earned coveted spots on Newsday’s annual 100 “Top Long Island Restaurant” list it was revealed on Wednesday.
The list, reported by Newsday food writers Peter Gianotti, Erica Marcus, Corin Hirsch and Pervaiz Shallwani, includes ten entries from the the following ten divisions: bistro, sushi, seafood, cheap eats, fine dining, steak house, Chinese, Italian, Middle Eastern and Indian.
“Noah Schwartz’s downtown winner is both traditional and contemporary, in look and on table, with plates large and small,” that restaurant’s entry states.
North Fork Shack in Southold was selected in the cheap eats division, with shoutouts for its local ceviche, clam chowder and pulled lamb. Caci North Fork was included in the Italian category and the region’s premiere restaurant, North Fork Table & Inn, was once again named one of the best fine dining establishments on Long Island.
“The serene, charming restaurant is focused and grand, from tasting menus onward,” the report states of the North Fork Table & Inn. Among the recommendations from that menu were the crisp cod-and-Yukon Gold potato cake, 8 Hands Farm pork pate and summer truffle-and-ricotta cavatelli.
All five eateries made the cut in 2016, as well.
On nearby Shelter Island, 18 Bay also made the fine dining list.
