This just in from Harper’s Bazaar and its roundup of the best last-minute weekend getaways from New York City.

Our own slice of paradise, the North Fork, made the cut.

In the post, published on April 27 and entitled “#TheLIST: The Best Last-Minute Weekend Getaways From NYC,” writer Carrie Goldberg extolls the virtue of our hometown.

“The South Fork is home to the Hamptons and Shelter Island, while the North boasts some of New York’s best wineries and charming hotels,” she said. “If you’re a food and wine lover, this is the trip for you.”

She goes on to recommend staying at The Morning Glory Bed and Breakfast, which is described as feeling “as comfortable and homey as it does luxurious.”

“If the house-made meals weren’t convincing enough, imagine spending the morning on the porch of the B&B, overlooking dozens of rose bushes; after all, the property is named after a flower,” she said.

For the thirsty, the advice is to head to Bedell Cellars or Kontokosta Winery for the tasty wines and stunning views.

So, the North Fork offers beautiful views of a lush landscape, charming inns and stellar wine, but, admittedly, the waves at our beaches can be somewhat lacking.

If big breakers are really what you’re after, you’re better off with Montauk (the number seven pick) where the surf is high and the hipster beards are as long as the boards strapped to the top of their vintage cars.

Also on the list, the North Fork’s lovely local neighbor — Shelter Island.

For New Yorkers, the East End makes a great last minute trip as it is only a Hampton Jitney ride, a LIRR trip, or for some, a chopper ride, away. If you are lucky enough to get summer Fridays off this season, make the most of them!
