Greg Kelly and Rosanna Scotto know what’s good.

The Good Day New York hosts featured Farm Country Kitchen owner Tom Carson and chef Todd Sabatini during a Good Day Café segment which aired on Thursday morning. And Carson and Sabatini brought along a spread of the Riverhead restaurant’s delicious, fresh fare including arugula salad with edible flowers and a dish made with Crescent Duck Farm duck.

“You’ve heard of Long Island duck? This is like, right down the block duck,” Kelly said.

It’s no surprise to us to see one of our favorite lunch spots in the spotlight. The interior of the 19th century Colonial-style home is charming, the view of the Peconic River is stellar and the rotating menu has fresh and healthy options. But honestly our favorite part is that weekday lunch is served with a homemade chocolate chip cookie (yeah, we’re easy to please).

“You guys were doing the farm-to-table thing before farm-to-table became a thing,” Kelly noted.

Scotto helped Sabatini make the restaurant’s popular New Orleans sea scallops — which the New York Times singled out in a 2015 rave review — by sautéing the shellfish in some olive oil.

Carson described how the restaurant started as a takeout lunch spot offering paninis and salads and eventually became a full-service restaurant.

“People just started coming one after the other and it just expanded and grew,” he said.

“Now you’ve got a hit on your hands,” Kelly continued.

The spread also featured a few bottles of Long Island wines, including a selection from the organic vineyard The Farrm. Carson mentioned how the wine was grown by his friend Rex Farr who Kelly mistook for former Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre.
