For those of who can’t help stealing a few spoonfuls of raw cookie dough while making a batch of chocolate chip cookies, Snowflake Ice Cream Shoppe in Riverhead has got a new product for you.

The longtime establishment announced on its Facebook page Wednesday that beginning March 23, they would be serving edible chocolate chunk cookie dough. Made without eggs, the new offering follows a recent trend where shops — such as DO in New York City, which opened in January — began selling cookie dough in scoops, just like ice cream is served.

“This seems to be the new thing and a lot of people have asked me about it,” said Snowflake owner Stuart Feldschuh. “A lot of stuff we make in ice cream is suggested by customers, so we were getting suggestions for this so I said ‘okay, I’ll try it.’”

The cookie dough is courtesy of David’s Cookie, which is the company Feldschuh uses for the other cookie products he sells at the shoppe.

The social media post garnered lots of positive reactions, with over 300 likes and 50-plus shares as of Friday afternoon. Many people commented with praises as well, like “completely freaking awesome,” “I need this” and “I’ve been meaning to go to the one in the city but now that we have it out here…COOKIE DOUGH FOREVER.”

People can purchase cookie dough by the scoop, which costs the same as hard ice cream scoops ($4.15 for a small, $5.53 for a large). They can also combine it with ice cream offerings.

Snowflake Ice Cream Shoppe, located at 1148 West Main Street, is open daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
