Jamesport Vineyards will soon offer a secluded space for private tastings in addition to its main tasting room and manicured back lawn.

An old wooden cauliflower shed on the Main Road property will be reborn as an event space, open for private parties and intimate tastings.

“We’re trying to give people a better experience and to offer people something more relaxing,” said Jamesport Vineyards president Ron Goerler Jr. He noted the space will be available for  events like anniversary parties or business luncheons.

When finished, the 18 foot by 12 foot space will hold up to about 20 people. Vineyard rows will abut the section, Goerler said.

Goerler expects to install a bocce court for some party entertainment. He estimated the rustic structure was built sometime in the 1940s.

“We want to give multiple different experiences at the winery,” he said, “It’s one again changing out there as to what people want.”

Jamesport Vineyards already offers different spaces for events, including a tented patio that doubles as a dance floor and the romantic “barrel room” with seating for up to 18 in the winery’s cellar.
