As of Tuesday, Nov. 15, tickets for North Fork Trolley’s 2016 edition of the popular “Polar Express Trolley Ride” were still available, but many slots had already filled up. In most years the tour completely sells out.

Friday, Dec. 16,
Sunday, Dec. 18,
Monday, Dec. 19,

Friday, Dec. 23

Based on the bestselling 1985 children’s book “The Polar Express,” the North Fork Trolley ride takes participants on a 75-minute round-trip journey to a fictional version of the North Pole.

During the experience, which departs from The All Star in Riverhead and travels north, fans have the chance to interact with a character from the 2004 film adaptation of “The Polar Express” and listen to an audio recording of the book.

Participants then disembark at a secret location in Riverhead, where they have the chance to meet Santa Claus and his elves, who present each child with a silver sleigh bell, just like in the book. Cookies and hot cocoa are also served.

“It’s a wonderful story and we’re glad we can bring it to Long Island,” North Fork Trolley co-owner Carolyn Miskulin told us last year. “We’re glad we can bring it to life.”

Tickets for the 2016 “Polar Express Trolley Ride” cost $50 each and can be purchased by going to northforktrolley.com.showare.com. Most performances take place between 4 and 8 p.m. and participants must be age 2 and above. For more information, call North Fork Trolley at (631) 369-3031.
