Southold Athletic Association 5K

Run or walk for a good cause in Southold on Saturday, November 5.

Proceeds from the race go to the Southold Athletic Association, which provides health and wellness opportunities to Southold students. Proceeds also benefit the North Fork Parish Outreach food pantry in Greenport.

Day of registration is $25. Participants check in at Southold Elementary School between 7:30 and 8:45 a.m., the race begins at 9 a.m.

Civil War Encampment Reenactment

See a Civil War reenactment presentation in Baiting Hollow on Saturday, November 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Presented by the 1st Regiment Long Island Volunteers of Sayville, there will be an “All Wars” memorial service at 2 p.m. honoring all veterans. There will also be live music and a book signing. All events are in observation of the 225th anniversary of the Baiting Hollow Congregational Church.

While there is no admission charge, donations are accepted.

Paumanok Vineyard Barrel Tastings

Take a trip to Paumanok Vineyards’ cellar to taste wine direct from the barrel on Saturday, November 5.

Tastings will be accompanied by an assortment of cheeses, breads and pâté. Their 2015 vintage reds and barrel fermented chardonnay will be featured and futures cases will be available for purchase.

Admission is $25 and tastings will take place at noon, 1, 2, 3 and 4 p.m. The fee will be waived if you purchased 2014 or 2015 vintage futures or if you’re a Paumanok wine club member.

Brilliant Beacons: A History of the American Lighthouse

Learn about lighthouses as you tour the tower at Horton Point on Sunday, November 6.

Author Eric Jay Dolin will discuss and sign copies of his book “American Beacons: A History of the American Lighthouse.” Visitors will also be able to tour Southold Historical Society’s Nautical Museum at the lighthouse and climb the tower.
