Hallockville Museum Farm will host its annual barn dance this Saturday, July 30 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. in Riverhead.

The authentic ‘hoedown’ takes place in the historic Naugles Barn and will feature live music performed by the Dance All Night Band.  Chart Guthrie will lead the way, calling out the dances. There will also be lessons on traditional folk dances.

“This is our 14th annual farm dance,” said Beth Motschenbacher, Assistant Director of Hallockville. “It was a traditional event back in rural communities that brought people together to socialize and celebrate.”

For Saturday’s event, there will be local wine and craft beer for sale. Noah’s food truck will also be on hand, and picnic tables set up outside the barn.

“We get great sunsets out here over the farm fields to the north of us,” Motschenbacher said. “It’s really a beautiful place to enjoy a nice summer evening.”

The annual barn dance raises funds for Hallockville, a non-profit organization dedicated to educating and connecting the community to its agricultural heritage.

Tickets are $25 per person and $5 for children ages 5 to 11. Children 4 and under are free. Tickets can be purchased in advance at hallockville.com. Tickets can also be purchased at the door.

Dress is casual and people are encouraged to wear their country western best if they choose to.

Hallockville is located at 6038 Sound Avenue in Riverhead. For more information call (631) 298-5292 or visit hallockville.com.
