KATHARINE SCHROEDER PHOTO Kevin McLaughlin makes short work of splitting a lobster tail at the Rotary Club's annual Lobster Fest held at the Wharf House in Southold on Saturday. By Mr. McLaughlin's estimation, over 800 lobsters would be served along with hundreds of steaks, ears of corn, mussels and drinks.

Enjoy lobster in a beautiful setting as the Southold and Greenport Rotary Clubs host the 25th Annual Lobsterfest at Founder’s Landing this Saturday, July 30.

One of the North Fork’s most beloved summertime activities, the event takes place from 5 to 9:30 p.m. and raises money for many projects that benefit both communities.

“Everything we make is given back to the community, every dime,” Southold Rotary’s past assistant governor Barbara Ackerman said.

Guests will have their choice between lobster or steak. Side dishes include steamed mussels, baked potato, corn on the cob, cole slaw and watermelon. Children enjoy hamburgers and hot dogs.

There will be a cash bar serving wine, beer and soft drinks. There will also be a 50-50 raffle, as well as other fun prizes.

Last year’s Lobsterfest served more than 900 people, according to Ackerman.

“It starts Friday with the setting up and ends Sunday with the cleaning up,” Ackerman said. “But it works beautifully because we all just chip in.”

Food will be served from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Wharf House at Founders Landing, located at the end of Hobart Road in Southold. There will also be live music and dancing until 9:30 p.m.

Tickets are $50 in advance for adults or $55 at the door. Kids ages 12 and under are $7.

Advance tickets can be purchased by calling Barbara Ackerman at (631) 298-5868.  She will also be selling tickets from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 29 at the IGA on Main Road in Southold.
