When it comes to summer wines, Long Island vineyards are on many top chef’s to-drink lists.

In a recent article, Food & Wine Magazine asked several chefs to choose which wines they themselves like to drink in the summertime and a pair of Long Island wines made the cut.

Celebrity chef Alexandra Guarnaschelli, executive chef at Butter restaurant in New York City and star of several Food Network shows like “Chopped,” “Iron Chef America” and “Alex’s Day Off,” chose a Wolffer Estate Vineyard favorite.

“I love to drink the Wolffer Estate Summer in a Bottle Rose’ ($24) while eating cubes of ice-cold watermelon,” she said. “So refreshing. I also love it with a couple of mellow, creamy cheeses and some tart grapes.”

Celebrity chef Tom Colicchio, co-founder of the Gramercy Tavern and head judge of Bravo’s Top Chef, chose a wine by Shinn Estate Vineyards.

“In the summer we eat a lot of vegetables we grow ourselves at our place on the North Fork,” he said. “I gravitate to simple local whites like Shinn Estate Vineyards Haven Sauvignon Blanc-Semillon ($36).”
