Take your dad to Greenport this Saturday for a pre-Father’s Day celebration by strolling along sidewalks filled with food, shopping deals and activities.

Sponsored by the Greenport Business Improvement District, local merchants and organizations will participate in the village’s first-ever “Pop Culture” event from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

“We want to enliven the village with activities to stimulate business for merchants, as well as presenting interesting events for the community to take part in,” said Caroline Waloski, BID promotion liaison and owner of The Sirens’ Song Gallery in Greenport.

Special events include a lighthouse tour of the Bug Light presented by the East End Seaport Museum and sea chanties performed by Stirling Historical Society’s Ireland House, she said.

Participating galleries will also offer discounts and hold demonstrations, Waloski added.

The Greenport BID hosted a similar event for Mother’s Day and is planning additional events, including a rubber duckie race in August called “Greenport Goes Quackers.”
