Chef Hayden’s Farmers Market

Chef Hayden’s Farmers Market opens for the season on Friday, May 27 from 9 a.m. to noon in Southold.

Named after the late chef Gerry Hayden, of the North Fork Table and Inn, the market features 15 local farms and food producers like Browder’s Birds and the North Fork Coffee Roasting Company. The North Fork Food Truck will also be there serving delicious dishes.

Plants with a Purpose

The North Fork Audubon Society will hold a native plant sale on Saturday, May 28 and Sunday, May 29 in Greenport from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Native plants bring pollinators to your garden, including birds, bees and moths.

The event is free and the sale will take place inside the red house at Inlet Pond County Park, located at 65275 County Route 48 in Greenport.

Salute to Veterans Concert

The North Shore Community Band will perform its ‘Salute to Veterans’ concert Friday, May 27 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. in Wading River.

The event is free and will take place at the St. John the Baptist R.C. Church parish hall, located at 1488 North Country Road in Wading River.

North Shore Horse Rescue Yard Sale

The North Shore Horse Rescue and Sanctuary will hold a giant yard sale on Saturday, May 28 and Sunday, May 29 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Baiting Hollow.

Shop for vintage items, collectibles and lots of other stuff for a good cause. All proceeds will go to grain, hay, medication and other care for the rescues. Plus while you’re shopping, stop in and meet the horses.

The North Shore Horse Rescue and Sanctuary is located at 2330 Sound Avenue in Baiting Hollow.

8th Annual Chowderfest

Come to the annual Chowderfest on Saturday, May 28 from noon to 3 p.m. in New Suffolk.

Enjoy local chowders, barbecue food, a Chinese auction, music and lots of activities for the kids. Tickets are $25 per person, children under 12 are free.

Chicken Barbecue Fundraiser

The Living Water Full Gospel Church will hold a chicken barbecue fundraiser on Saturday, May 28 from 4 to 7 p.m. in Riverhead.

Enjoy barbecued chicken while raising money for the Living Water Church Kids Camp, a free camp for children, ages 4 to 12. Tickets are $15 for adults. Seniors over 65 and children under 12 are $12.

To purchase tickets call (631) 722-4969, ext. 204. The barbecue will take place under a big tent at the corner of Shade Tree Lane and Hubbard Avenue in Riverhead.

Pulled Pork and Shrimp Fest

Enjoy an ‘all you can eat’ dinner on Saturday, May 28 from 6 to 9 p.m. in Southold.

Southold’s F.D. Engine Company 1 is hosting the fundraiser dinner, which includes beer, wine and soda. Tickets are $30 per person. Credit cards will be accepted. For more information and to reserve tickets in advance call (631) 765-3385.

Semper Fi 5K

The Semper Fi 5K will kick off Sunday, May 29 at 9 a.m. in New Suffolk.

Hosted by the North Fork Marines, the race will raise funds for the Semper Fi Fund to help U.S. military veterans and Kait’s Angels.

The starting point for the race will be at First Street and Main Street in New Suffolk.

20th Annual Community Mosaic Street Painting Festival

East End Arts holds its annual street festival on Sunday, May 29 from noon to 5 p.m. in Riverhead.

Enjoy arts, crafts, street painting, live music, food trucks, dancing, theater and many children’s activities. For more information call (631) 727-0900 visit eastendarts.org.

The event is free and will take place in downtown Riverhead, between Roanoke and East Avenues, as well as on the grounds of East End Arts at 133 East Main St.

Southold Town Memorial Day Parade

Southold Town’s Memorial Day Parade kicks off on Monday, May 30 at 10 a.m. in Greenport.

The memorial ceremony will begin at Veteran’s Memorial Park at the juncture of First and Main streets. The parade will begin immediately afterward.
