A wall of colorful kilim pillows greets the eye when one first enters TouchGOODS, a new home goods store in Southold.

From there different pieces of furniture, both wood and rattan, compete for attention, as owner Norine Pennacchia wades through them, deciding how they’ll be displayed.

TouchGOODS is Ms. Pennacchia’s creation which grew out of a love of furniture, both old and new. Currently she is stocking and decorating the shop in order to be open by Saturday, March 19.

“The store is a mix of vintage, custom furniture and lighting,” Ms. Pennacchia said. “I’m refinishing some pieces that I find locally, plus I’m collecting vintage and mid-century furniture. So it’s a good mix of refinished, vintage and new.”

The new furniture and lighting Ms. Pennacchia sells includes several collections from Europe that she got to know during the 13 years she worked for Country Gear Ltd., a furniture store in Bridgehampton.

“I’ll continue to rep those collections out of this store,” Ms. Pennacchia said. “So in some ways it’s a satellite of that shop.”

The vintage and retro side of the store will be pieces Ms. Pennacchia collected or refinished over the years. Much of it collected during the years she commuted to the Hamptons from her home in Aquebogue.

“My true passion is the vintage stuff and the old stuff, upcycling, recycling and collecting,” she said. “The Hamptons was a great place for yard sales and estate sales. I’d be late many days out of the week because I would just swerve to the side if I saw a yard sale. So all of those things that I’ve been collecting from over there, now they’re going to find a place in the shop here.”

Ms. Pennacchia is also excited to be on the North Fork, as is her husband, Brian Pennacchia, owner of Touch of Venice restaurant in Cutchogue.

“That’s where the name “Touch” comes in to the name of my store,” Ms. Pennacchia said. “It’s nice now to be on the same road, on the same fork as his business.”

The couple hope the style of the new store will stand apart from the North Fork’s other vintage and antique shops.

“Where I am in Cutchogue, there’s a lot of antique stores,” Mr. Pennacchia said. “We’re trying not to be antique, but it is some retro and new collections, we’re trying to find our niche.”

“Which definitely speaks to the way people are designing their homes,” Ms. Pennacchia continued. “It’s very eclectic. It’s not matchy-matchy, but a mix of different periods and styles and that’s what I want the store to reflect.”

Located at 53740 Main Road in Southold, TouchGOODS will open on Saturday, March 19 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. After that the store will be open seven days a week, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information call (631) 235-4359 or visit touchgoods.com.
