After coming out of the warmest December on record, an Arctic blast hit Long Island last week bringing temperatures into the 20s with an even colder wind chill factor.
Thanks to the wind, these beautiful ice sculptures formed on the dock at Iron Pier Beach in Jamesport by the morning of Wednesday, Jan. 6. However, it surely doesn’t yet compare to last winter when the weather was cold enough to freeze large portions of Long Island Sound.
According to the National Weather Service, today’s temperatures could climb as high as 61 degrees though the heavy rain will continue.
