A one-of-a-kind gift is always special, and art galleries on the North Fork are a great place to find a unique piece of art for the holidays.

But even more rare is a painting or photo exhibit that can help a stranger in need or even the beautiful environment of the North Fork. Such is the case with a pair of local art exhibits. Small Works 2015 is currently on exhibit at the Alex Ferrone Photography Gallery in Cutchogue.  The 70 limited edition photographs on display are also for sale. The exhibit’s photographers come from Suffolk and Nassau County, as well as New York City. All framed works are sized 14 inches or smaller, making them the perfect holiday gift. “We have seasoned and emerging artists,” said owner Alex Ferrone. “The subject matter is eclectic and not centered on any one theme. We have abstract, surreal, architecture, black and white and color. It’s really a beautiful exhibit.” Along with the exhibit, the gallery is also collecting personal care products for families in need through CAST (Community Action Southold Town. Items needed include toiletries like soap, shampoo, toothbrushes and shaving products. “It’s part of what we do here,” said Ferrone. “We try to fit in a benefit with most of our exhibits.” The Small Works 2015 exhibit and sale runs through February 15. The Alex Ferrone Photography Gallery is located at 25425 Main Road in Cutchogue. Hours are Thursday to Saturday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Appointments on other days are also available. Call 631-734-8545 for more information or visit alexferronegallery.com.
