Her move to Greenport was supposed to be temporary, but artist Nadira Vlaun has since made her mark in the community and, more specifically, on the bottles of wine produced here.

Ms. Vlaun, the artist behind the labels on several local wine bottles, was the subject of a profile this week from Wall Street Journal wine columnist Lettie Teague.

A 38-year-old former college track star, Ms. Vlaun designed her first wine label for McCall Wines in 2008. She has since worked for five other local wine producers: Paumanok Vineyards, Kontokosta Winery, One Woman Wines & Vineyards, Southold Farm + Cellar and Saltbird Cellars.

“I really get excited about wine people,” she told the Journal. “They’re like a little piece of art themselves.”
