Italian food is widely considered to be Long Island’s most popular cuisine and two of the Island’s best eateries are on the North Fork and Shelter Island, according to Newsday.
In Southold, Caci North Fork made the list, which was published on Newsday.com on Tuesday.
Food writer Peter M. Gianotti, Joan Reminick and Erica Marcus praised Umbrian-born chef Marco Pellegrini and owners Anthony and Danielle Cacioppo, reporting “Caci North Fork brings an authentic taste of Italy to the community.”
Recommended on their menu was the seafood guazzetto, grilled striped bass with cacciatora sauce and basil tagliatelle with cherry tomatoes and mozzarella.
Caci North Fork is located at 56125 Main Road in Southold.
Shelter Island’s 18 Bay Restaurant also made the list. The newspaper reported that restaurateurs “Elizabeth Ronzetti and Adam Kopels have fashioned an ideal country restaurant devoted to local ingredients, a constantly changing fixed-price four-course menu and imaginative takes on Italian cuisine.”
Recommendations on the menu include the bluefish crudo with celtuce, striped bass crudo with cucumber and garganelli pasta with duck meatballs and charred cherry tomatoes.
18 Bay Restaurant is a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence winner for three years in a row and has received accolades from Edible East End, The New York Times and New York Magazine. It is located at 23 North Ferry Road on Shelter Island.
