Jennifer Lopez celebrated her 46th birthday with a jungle-themed chocolate fudge cake on Saturday made by Blue Duck Bakery Cafe.

Blue Duck owner Keith Kouris said he initially turned down the request when he was first asked to make a cake two days before the event.

“I said ‘no’ because I didn’t want to do something that wasn’t worthy of what Blue Duck can do,” Kouris said in an interview Monday. “It’s my reputation at stake. I said, ‘If you can find someone else, do it.’ The next morning, they said, ‘You’re my only option.’”

The JLo birthday planners then sent Kouris a jungle-themed graphic and logo of 1 OAK, the Southampton nightclub where the party took place.

Kouris described the dessert as a sheet cake that tastes like a traditional chocolate cake with fudge filling and a vanilla butter cream top for the jungle-themed graphic.

After “Happy Birthday JLo” was added, the cake was picked up at the bakery’s Southampton location.

“They called it a ‘marketing opportunity,’ which means they don’t pay,” Kouris said when asked how much Lopez was charged for the cake.

He described getting the cake ready as extremely stressful since his bakery was already booked for other parties and weddings.

The bakery also makes many theme cakes that could take up to a couple of weeks to plan and cost between $300 and $1,200 each, he said.

Blue Duck has made cakes for several other celebrities in recent years, including Beyonce, Aretha Franklin, Alec Baldwin and Christie Brinkley.

“We were happy to do the cake,” Kouris said when asked if he had a message for Lopez, “but I wish I had a little more time and made it a little more spectacular.”
