Want a taste of Europe without the travel? Just head to Wading River.

My Creperie opened in historic downtown Wading River on Wednesday afternoon and will be celebrating its grand opening this weekend. So far, the reception has been positive, said owner Robert Nasta.

“We did good,” he said. “Duck Pond Day (last Sunday) was great exposure for us.”

As of Friday, the restaurant was still operating on a slightly smaller menu, with no ice cream options available. However ice cream — including a special spaghetti-styled ices with raspberry jam to serve as the “tomato sauce” — should be ready to be served by today, Nasta said.

In the meantime, the creperie has been serving a mix of sweet and savory crepes.

But while there are more exotic crepes like a roast beef option with blue cheese and fresh spinach, the sweet options are the restaurant’s specialty, Nasta said. The decadent Smores crepe is a popular choice.

“We can do a lot more with sweets,” he joked.

My Creperie is the latest new restaurant to fuel the hamlet’s comeback, after the popular Tex-Mex restaurant Mesquite and North Fork Bacon & Smokehouse both opened in the past year. The Wading River location was key, Nasta said.

“You don’t get this everywhere on Long Island,” he said.
